Hair journey! 12-20-11

For the past year I have been looking up black hair and how to care for it. I've been wanting to start my hair journey for some time now but I've been busy with college. Now that I'm on break and am really considering it. I want to acquire as much knowledge I can before starting my journey, I don't plan on it being perfect but I want it to go as smooth as possible me and my hair have been through a lot already lol. So my first steps are creating a solid regimen that I know I have time to follow the next step is journaling my journey which will probably be on here and in a notebook. Taking pictures of progress, measurements, and successful products and reviews. So I think I will no not think I WILL try out products and make a SOLID regimen of specific products that work best for me. So far I for sure know that I am keeping my Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Nioxin Vitamins that have worked wonders for me already. The reason I want a solid regimen first is because I know what my hair needs which is repetition and I also want to avoid becoming a product junkie. My hair is currently relaxed and I plan on staying relaxed but stretching as much as possible. I am taking my sew in out within the next couple of days and perming- will take pictures to show where I currently am. My journey will be mostly focused on building healthy hair first and then working on length.

Longer and stronger hair/nails

Last year I came across a video on YouTube about vitamins, ones specifically for hair and skin and nails. I seen a lady do a review on vitamins called Nioxin and she swore on it, saying she had amazing results and that it does exactly as it says and was growing her hair tremendously. I wanted to try it and thought maybe it doesn't work for everyone but hey, it's worth a try. So I ordered some online, amazon for $25 for 90 so I said I would give it a three month trial period and see how everything goes. I did exactly that and it worked lovely!!! You don't see the result immediately (everything takes time) going into my second month I noticed stronger and fuller hair (less breakage and damage when washing and detangling) I was ecstatic and couldn't believe the results I was seeing!

JBCO !!

I started my Jamaican Black Castor Oil Challenge ! And I'm extremely excited.. I've heard so much about the product and I was anxious to use it :) I ordered it from Jamaicanblackcastoroil.com my 8oz came up to 17.84 with shipping and handling I think the oil its self came up to $8 and they have a spring sale going on where you get 20% off which is amazing. It came around 3 days in the mail. I really couldn't wait to use it after seeing it work for so many people. I am a member of hairlista.com a site for educating black women to grow their healthy and long! They having a JBCO challenge going on that lasts about three months and you note and show your progress along the way.

Here are the challenge levels

Challenge Levels:

Basic: Apply Castor Oil to a clean scalp 1-2 times per week.

Advance: Apply Castor Oil to a clean scalp 2-3 times per week.

Ultimate: Apply Castor Oil to your scalp 5-7 times per week. You must deep condition with a 1-2 tsp of your Castor Oil mixed in your deep conditioner and/or use it to seal your ends.

Here are the rules

Rules:

1. Your Castor Oil MUST be 100% Castor Oil. Grease cannot be used as a substitute on the scalp. However, it can be used to seal i.e. Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil.
2. Apply to a clean scalp whenever possible (wash/co wash days).
3. One must report any changes, improvements, success in your hair/new growth. This will inspire others!
4. Please upload a photo of your hair progress after the Challenge is complete (there will be a particular thread created for this).
5. Have fun and grow!

--So before you ever apply it you should make sure your scalp is clean. I washed my hair before I put it in
I washed my hair with creme of nature moisturizing shampoo and creme of nature deep moisturizing conditioner and I put some JBCO in my conditioner and let it sit there for like 30 minutes and washed It out the instant I washed it out I felt the difference my hair was unbelievably soft !! I wanted to start my challenge but my hair was already soft and I thought if I added more oil it would become oily and with my hair, once it becomes greasy it is hard to handle. So I tried to avoid that whole situation by applying the Castor oil to my scalp the next day, when I did that my hair loved it and it wasn't greasy at all. I used the oil to seal my ends and as a moisturizer.

I am doing a combination of the 3 levels
Basic for the first month
Advanced for the second month
And ultimate for the third month

I am also applying the JBCO to my lashes and eyebrows for thickness, I heard it works wonders!! Can't wait to see progress, I am holding back on my sew-in so I can get my regimen and challenge going!! :) good luck ladies !!

SPRINGS ALMOST HERE!

In the spring it's all about bright colorful nail polish ! so recently I looked through my nail polish bag and didn't know what color I wanted to wear. Ive been looking for something nice and solid to go with my complexion, I came across this Grayish-Black color that I bought from Sephora some months ago. I remember being in the store and the color catching my eye, one reason i was a little against it was mostly because it came in a really small bottle which ran me $5. (actual bottle size to the right) But my obsession with gray told me to just get it, it came in handy ! btw, the brush on it is AMAZING!! you will barely need a second coat.

The color I got is called-Money Maker(wet cement gray).
